ARCHITECTURAL COLOUR CONSULTATION

Confident colour and material selections for new and existing buildings.

Bespoke Architects provides architectural colour consultation for residential and commercial projects.

We develop coordinated internal and external palettes that respond to the building’s architecture, natural light, surroundings and intended character.

For existing buildings, we can work with materials and colours that will remain—helping new paint, finishes and building elements sit comfortably alongside brickwork, stone, timber, flooring, joinery and other established features.

For new projects, we can coordinate the complete palette from exterior materials and roofing through to internal paint, joinery, flooring and key finishes.

Colour consultations from $450 + GST.

SUITABLE FOR

COLOUR THAT RESPONDS TO THE BUILDING

Colour should not be selected in isolation.

Natural and artificial light, orientation, room size, surrounding landscape and existing materials can all change the way a colour is experienced.

We consider:

  • The architectural character of the building

  • Existing colours and materials

  • Natural light and orientation

  • Adjacent rooms and sightlines

  • Roof, cladding and masonry colours

  • Flooring, tiles, benchtops and joinery

  • Existing furniture or fittings where relevant

  • Heritage character

  • Commercial branding

  • Maintenance requirements

  • The relationship between internal and external finishes

  • How colours change throughout the day

The result is a coordinated palette rather than a collection of individual selections.

WORKING WITH EXISTING COLOURS AND MATERIALS

Existing buildings often contain materials worth retaining.

Rather than replacing everything, we identify the colours, textures and undertones already present and develop a palette that works with them.

These may include:

  • Face brickwork

  • Natural stone

  • Timber floors and joinery

  • Existing tiles

  • Roofing and metalwork

  • Concrete

  • Heritage finishes

  • Commercial branding

  • Furniture and artwork

  • Recently completed work that will not be altered

This approach can reduce unnecessary replacement, control project costs and create a more coherent result.

OUR PROCESS

1. Tell us about the project

Complete a short questionnaire and send us any available plans, photographs, inspiration images and existing finish information.

2. Project review

We review the material before the consultation and identify the main decisions that need to be resolved.

3. Consultation

We meet at the property or project site to review the light, architecture, surroundings and existing materials.

Remote consultations can be arranged where suitable.

4. Palette development

We develop the agreed colour and material direction and record the selections in a coordinated schedule.

5. Review

You receive the draft palette and provide one consolidated set of comments.

6. Final schedule

The agreed selections are issued as a final colour and finish schedule for use by suppliers, painters, builders and other consultants.
